DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE & APPLICATIONS
PANJAB UNIVERSITY, CHANDIGARH - 160014.

Applications are invited for the posts of Lecturers in the following departments to be filled in through Walk-in-Interview, purely on temporary basis; for the academic year 2009-2010 or till the regular posts are filled in through proper selection whichever is earlier.

1. Lecturer 4 :For Department of Computer Science & Applications, P.U. Chandigarh

2. Lecturer-4 : S.S.G. P.U. Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur.

The posts carry the basic pay plus other allowances admissible as per university rules (Grade Rs. 8000-275-13500 ) or Rs. 15,300/- fixed as per qualifications of the candidates.

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL
Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s degree level, in the relevant subject, i.e. Computer Science/Computer Applications from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from a foreign University.

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates with post graduates degree should have cleared the Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturers conducted by the UGC. However, the candidates having Ph.D degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET for PG level and UG level teaching. The Candidates having M.Phil degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET for UG level teaching only. This would be effective from 14.06.2006 i.e. the date of issue of letter by the UGC vide D.O. No. F.1-1/2002(PS) Exemp.

EXPLANATION
The term ‘good academic record’ would imply the following:
i) At least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/ Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) or an equivalent grade at Master’s degree level;
AND
ii) At least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/ Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) at the graduation level;
OR
At least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST/ Physically & Visually handicapped candidates) in Honours at the graduation level.
Candidates for the posts of Lecturers should have Master’s degree in the relevant subject and not in an allied subject. However, candidates who do not possess Master’s degree in the relevant subject but have done Ph.D. in the relevant subject will also be considered eligible.
NOTE-1 A relaxation of 5% is admissible from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.
NOTE -2 If the candidates with above qualifications are not available; then the candidates having passed M.CA, M.Sc. (IT)/(CS) or equivalent will be considered for term
appointment with fixed salary of Rs. 15,300/-

Date, Time and Venue of the Selection Committee The interested candidates with their bio-data (6 copies) and application on the plain paper may appear before the Selection Committee on August 11, 2009 at 10.a.m. in the office of the Chairperson, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The candidates must bring all the original Certificates at the time of interview. No. T.A. D.A will be given.
