ICRISAT invites applications for Engineer (Farm Machinery & Seed Processing) to be based at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh, India. This is a Nationally Recruited Staff.
ICRISAT is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization for science-based agricultural development. Established in 1972, it is an Alliance of centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and supported by more than 48 governments, foundations, and development banks. To reduce poverty, enhance crop productivity and food security and to protect the environment, ICRISAT research focuses on farming systems and crop improvement, management and utilization of sorghum, pearl millet, pigeonpea, chickpea, and groundnut in the semi-arid tropics.

Responsibilities:
Assisting in the overall activities on the Tillage, Harvest & Seed processing operations, responsible for carrying out seedbed preparation, fertilization, planting, inter-culturing, harvesting, threshing, drying etc.
Planning & coordinating preventive/ breakdown maintenance of a fleet of tractors, tillage, harvest & post-harvest machinery with W/shop. Coordinating activities on farm/campus, assign jobs to technicians and operators. Assisting in developing items specific to researcher’s needs, cost analysis/ quality control for providing cost effective and quality services.
Process spares and material lists, document and maintain database for the maintenance of history on experimental fields/ cost details.
Providing on the job training to a team of technician for upgrading their skills and responsible for maintaining all safety procedures. Interact with multinational customers and others in-house clients from various units.

Requirements:
BE (Agriculture Engineering) with 2-3 years or B. Sc (Agriculture) with 5-6 years experience in supervising farm machinery operations / maintenance/ management in research or commercial organization. Proficiency in computers (Ms office) is essential.
Excellent communication skills (both written & spoken) in English and working knowledge of Telugu will be added advantage. Candidate should be a good team player and have proven ability to work in multicultural teams

Period and Remuneration:
The position is for 3 years initially and may be extended depending on the requirement and performance of the incumbent. A right compensation will be provided to a deserving candidate.
