WALK-IN INERVIEW FOR MEDICAL DOCTORS FOR 29TH INDIAN ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
walk-in interview on August 27, 2009 (Thursday) at 9.00 am at following address:

National Centre for Antarctic Ocean Research - an autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Earth Sciences Govt. of India is the nodal agency responsible for organizing and coordinating the annual Indian Expeditions to Antarctica and maintaining India’s permanent station “Maitri” in the icy continent. Maitri has basic medical facilities with a M.I. room.
For the medical support at Antarctica to the ensuing 29th Indian Antarctic expedition, we REQUIRE the following medical officers on contract basis for the duration of expedition (Approx. 14 months).
Name of the post: Medical officer (Surgeon/Physician)
No. of posts: Two
Qualification: 1. M.B.B.S. from recognized university
2. Desirable: Post Graduate qualification (MD/MS/DNB) from a recognized University.
3. Experience: four years experience in the case of medical graduates (i:e MBBS) and one year experience in the case of candidates having post Graduate qualifications (i:e MD/MS/DNB).
Duration: the above medical officer, will participate as winter members of the expedition team. The doctors shall be sent to Antarctica by expedition vessel around October last week/November, 2009 and shall return to India March/ April, 2011.
Salary: 1) For candidate holding MBBS Degree Rs. 30,000/- per month (Consolidated, likely to be revised)
2) For candidates holding post-graduate qualification Rs. 35,000/- per Month (Consolidated, likely to be revised)
Remuneration: During the period of contract, the above medical officers as member of team will be entitled for free boarding & lodging onboard ship and at Antarctica with special polar clothing. The medical officers are entitled for monetary remuneration in form of hard duty allowance at the rate of Rs. 675/- and 450/- per day for winter and summer period respectively. The remuneration such as restricted free telephone call, internet access kit allowance etc. will also be paid as admissible.
The final selection of the candidates is subjected to their medical fitness. The applicant must attach the medical fitness certificate by medical superintendent of a govt. hospital along with application. He may again be examined by a medical board at AIIMS, or any other medical board duly authorized by NCAOR (if required). Since these medical officers will participate in the expedition as team members, the selected candidates have to perform all the routine duties and jobs related to expedition as assigned by the leader of expedition from time to time. Applicant has to provide an undertaking along with his application that candidate is medically and psychologically fit to serve in Antarctica for summer and winter periods and volunteer him/her self for the expedition.
On final selection the candidates will be required to sign a contract with NCAOR.

Applicants are requested to bring original certificates/documents for verification on 27th August 09, before appearing for the interview. To be eligible for appearing for the said interview on 27th August 2009. No. TA/DA will be paid to applicants. The candidates empanelled through this interview may also be considered for further expedition subject to their medical fitness.
